Recently, I have had the honor (and total blast) of getting to lead a weekly “Media” class as a part of the Remnant Fellowship Homeschool Co-op program. To say that I’ve enjoyed my Tuesdays at 3:00 with this crowd is an enormous understatement. The group of approximately 25 Remnant youth, ranging in age from 11-18, are some of the most respectful, loving, fun and all around “with it” kids on the planet. Since I have been a member of Remnant since 2003, I know that the Godly characteristics I see in these budding young adults are a direct result from what they are learning and putting into practice from the teachings at Remnant. I’ve been around long enough to know that they are not typical teens!
I’ve also been around long enough to know that a miraculous phenomenon occurring in Remnant—communication and provision from the Heavens in the form of COUNTLESS answered prayers received on a regular basis—is nothing short of just that…phenomenal. So for our first Media class project, I galvanized this young group of video editors, writers, speakers and photographers to attempt to document even a portion of the answered prayers among us in recent weeks. Whether it was a long awaited house sale, improved grades, or receiving a free car…may the following videos and article of answered prayers inspire us all to continue to live blamelessly before God, knowing that our gracious Heavenly Father will take care of our every concern as we seek Him first…and pray without ceasing.

Answered Prayers in Remnant Fellowship
By: Carrie Wright
“Listen to my prayer, O God, do not ignore my plea; hear me and answer me.” (Psalm 55:1-2b)
Gwen Shamblin, head of the WeighDown Workshop and founder of Remnant Fellowship Church, has been urging everyone to pray more often. Ever since the beginning of time, Man has been both petitioning and praising God through prayer. And the LORD always answers. I walked around the church grounds and interviewed various youth and adults, asking if they had any answered prayers recently. Every one of them had something that God had done for them, whether magnanimous or mundane.
The first person I interviewed was Kirsten Meyer, age 12. When I asked if she’d had any answered prayers recently, she smiled sweetly and told me. “So, I broke my headset a couple days ago…one earphone broke off. So I tried to fix it with some duct tape, but I wasn’t sure it would work, because it generally doesn’t. But I prayed it would work well, and it worked perfectly!”
I thanked Kirsten for her time and testimony. Her answered prayer is the perfect example of the fact that God takes the time to take care of something as trivial as a broken headset, as well as tend to the problems of the universe.
My next source was Jacquelyn Mentessi, 15. She is originally from Lake Katrine, New York, but recently moved here with her family. I sat next to her and asked her about her answered prayers. She said that her being able to move in the first place was already a huge blessing, because she had more friends here in Tennessee than in New York.
At the end of our conversation, she added that she was praying to pray more! After all, by praying to pray more, more prayers will be answered.
After talking to Jacquelyn, I made my way to the tetherball pole and asked the two little girls playing together if they had any answered prayers. Autumn Eldeen, a six year old, had a wonderful blessing.
“We got a new house!”
Realty in this day and age can be frustrating, but Autumn and her family got to move here, like Jacquelyn, with relative ease. Naturally there were some tests, but in the end their relocation was extremely blessed!
So far, we have mostly concentrated on the answered prayers of the youth. But adults have more to pray about, as is perfectly illustrated in my interview with Mrs. Sally Neely, mother of two children and real estate agent.
I asked her if she’d had any answered prayers recently, and she gave me a torrent of answers! Here are a couple of them.
“I have a lot of little blessings… I found an important phone number I needed for my business…I had two houses that were really hard to sell, and I almost lost the contract to one of them. With God’s help, I managed to sell it at the last minute!”
She had a lot more, but I said this one was fine.
Around the World
Anyone can have an answered prayer, no matter where they are on the planet. I called up a few people from both different states and different countries.
From San Antonio, Texas, I called up Emily Adamo, 13 years old. She was very excited about our upcoming Feast of Tabernacles, (for more information check out the Remnant Fellowship website) and this pertained directly to her answered prayer.
The day I called her, she had just been shopping for a new dress for the Feast. It fit her perfectly the moment she tried it on, which showed it was from God. She also got to have a friend over at her house, which is a great blessing for anyone.
After Emily, I interviewed 19-year old Abi Fickel from Dublin, Ohio. She had a lot of answered prayers!
“For a few days straight, my family has been visiting my grandparents because they had a stroke. My grandpa really opened up to us, saying that something magical happened when we visited him, that he really felt uplifted.” Apart from that, Abi had gotten “anything from simple prayers…getting the right food from a restaurant, getting close to my teachers, getting into a nursing program…” The list went on.
Those two testimonies are from different states, so here’s one from a different country. Saffron Aldred from Canada, a mandolin player and a singer, emailed me her answered prayer.
“He [God] had fulfilled the desire of my heart by giving me an amazing bassist for my band, and… gave me a gig at The Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto! It is our first performance in Toronto…at the most famous venue in Ontario. The Rolling Stones, Etta James, and every famous Canadian band has gotten to play there. It was so sweet that he orchestrated all of this.”
But this ENORMOUS answered prayer came with a bit of testing.
“The test of only having a month to prepare for such a big performance has required a lot of prayer, patience, learning when to speak and learning how to listen properly,” she wrote. That is going to be very difficult, so we might be able to help Saffron out a bit by praying about her upcoming performance!
In conclusion, one can pray for anything, anytime, anywhere, and God will be sure to answer it. Whether it’s something smaller, such as a new dress or a pair of broken headphones; or something huge like getting to perform at a famous tavern; as long as you are obedient and humble enough to get down on your knees and ask, God will grant your request.
“How great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you bestow in the sight of men on those who take refuge in you.” (Psalm 31:19)
Sometimes it may come at a price, or require some refinement on your part. But it is never too much to pay. “Surely God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart.” (Psalm 73:1)
After all, an all-powerful God took the time out of His schedule to create us in the first place, then more time to respond to our (frankly trivial) petitions. But then again, He is so full of love our little needs aren’t trivial to Him. He has taken care of everything from international crises to the desires of the smallest child. Even though humans have hurt his heart so much over the centuries, he still shows mercy and gives his remnant of followers what they ask for. Shouldn’t we take the time to praise as well as plead him?
